A Fast-moving Undulating Orb

Photo date: November 14, 2014. Photographer: Mark Mahin.

In this indoor photo of a wall, we see what photographers call a "ghosting" effect that is a sign of rapid movement. The orb seems to be moving rapidly in a wave-like motion, first dipping down, and then dipping up. The camera's shutter speed was 1/2000 of a second. One never observes this type of undulating motion (over such a short distance) in dust or insects, which leaves one with no known way to explain this.

Dust-level 243/4, Fair. No insects were observed on the photo date. No orbs shown in photos taken at samelocation from same angle soon before and soon after this photo was taken, which argues against any dust explanation. No artificial light was involved in the photo area except the camera flash. There was no possibility of a hair in front of the camera lens, because the photo was made by someone with very short hair.
