Striped Sky Orbs

Photo date: February 28, 2019. Photographer: Mark Mahin.

The photos below show two mysterious sky orbs I photographed.  The total number of mysterious striped orbs that I have photographed is now greater than 600. You can see them all by following this link, and continuing to press the "Older Posts" link at the right bottom.

There was no fog, mist, rain or precipitation on this night.

These are the 29th and 30th times I have photographed a mysterious orb with a stripe in one of the corners of the orb. This repeating pattern is one of 27 repeating patterns I have observed in mysterious orbs I have photographed. The visual below shows examples of each of these patterns, and how many occurrences of the patterns I have photographed. You can see many examples of each of these patterns by looking at this post.

Eerie Eavesdropper?

Photo date: January 3, 2019. Photographer: Mark Mahin.

In the photo below which I took in Grand Central Terminal, we see a man and a woman with their heads very close, as if they were telling each other some secret.  Near the woman is a blue orb, perhaps acting as if it were listening in on the conversation.

"My Ghost Story" Is a Mixed Bag

The Travel Channel has a TV series called "My Ghost Story: Caught on Camera."  The show occasionally shows some interesting examples of photographic orbs, including some examples of orbs moving on video.  But the interpretations given by the people interviewed are often too dogmatic. For example, someone on the show might say something such as "I know this orb was my late husband," but claims so precise are hard to justify, given that orbs are a very mysterious phenomenon we do not understand well.  The evidence on "My Ghost Story" is a mixed bag, with some accounts being good solid evidence of the anomalous and unexplained, and other cases being quite weak from an evidence standpoint.

Some of the people interviewed on the show are not aware of the fact that 99% of the mysterious orbs photographed are photographed in completely ordinary places, not in spooky places such as haunted houses.  Occasionally someone on the show will say something such as, "I got an orb in my photo, and I was terrified." That type of thinking makes no sense,  as orbs are as harmless as rainbows.

Was the Orb Passing Through the Building?

Photo date: February 21, 2019. Photographer: Mark Mahin.

Below we see a mysterious orb I photographed near a skyscraper. The right edge of the orb looks straight, and lines up with a surface of the building -- just as it might look if the photo had been taken while the orb was passing through the building.

He Also Gets Striped Orbs

At the link here is a very interesting video by Stephen Criddle showing striped orbs.  At spots such as the 54 second mark, you can see orbs that contain many stripes.  See also Stephen's video here for lots of other striped orbs.

The photos in this video remind me very much of the mysterious striped orbs I have photographed.  I have photographed more than 500 such striped orbs, which you can see by clicking here, and by continuing to click the "Older Posts" link at the bottom.  Or you can use this link to see a video of 500+ striped orbs I have photographed.

Stephen has quite a few orb videos at this link.  I found an astonishing parallel with two of his photos and mine.  At the 56 second mark of this video there is a photo of an orb with an inverted-Y pattern (an upside-down Y pattern), and at the 1:00 mark there is another photo of an orb with an inverted-Y pattern. This is one of the 27 repeating patterns of mysterious orbs that I have classified. I have 11 times previously photographed mysterious orbs with such an inverted-Y pattern. You can see the photos at the top of this page.  Six of my photos of  inverted Y orbs are shown below.

Was the Visible Speeding Orb Her Ghost?

On one of my two other blogs I have in recent months published four posts discussing historical evidence regarding apparition sightings. The posts are below:

When World-Class Scientists Saw Ghosts (Part 1)
When World-Class Scientists Saw Ghosts (Part 2)
When World-Class Scientists Saw Ghosts (Part 3)
25 Who Were "Ghost-Told" of a Death

I am currently reading the classic work "Phantasms of the Living," which includes very many accounts of apparitions.  There is a remarkable similarity between these accounts and the accounts collected by Flammarion which I discuss in my "25 Who Were 'Ghost-Told' of a Death." post. The similarity is that in a large fraction of the accounts, we read of someone seeing an apparition of someone,  and then soon learning later that such a person died on the same day (and very often on the same hour and day) as the apparition was seen.

Here is the latest account I read, on page 76 of volume 2 of "Phantasms of the Living," which you can find here

"About the year 1841, I was in a room with my father in our house in the Isle of Wight,  when he exclaimed, 'Good God, what is that?' starting up as he spoke, and apparently looking at something.  He then turned to me and said that he had seen a ball of light pass through the room, and added, 'Depend upon it, Nurse Simmons is dead.'  This was an old servant in London, to whom he had been sending money, in illness. In course of post came information that she passed away at the very time in question."

The account was reported by the Rev. Stephen H. Saxby.

The JOTT Phenomena Such as Objects Reappearing Where They Disappeared

A paranormal researcher named Mary Rose Barrington has studied a type of anomaly that she calls JOTT, which stands for Just One of Those Things.  This page lists different categories of these anomalies:

Comeback: An object mysteriously disappears from a place where it is normally seen. Then later it is found at exactly that spot. For example, you can no longer find your house keys that you normally keep on a small table near the door. Then later you find the keys at just that spot.
Walkabout: An object mysteriously disappears from the place where it is normally seen, only to be later found at some different place.  For example, you can no longer find your house keys that you normally keep on a small table near the door. Later you find them on top of your refrigerator.
Flyaway: An object disappears from the place where it is normally seen, never to be seen again.
Turn-up: "An article known to the finder but from an uncertain location is found in a location where it is known not to have been before it was found."
Windfall:  "An article of unknown provenance is found to be inexplicably present."  For example, you find on top of your refrigerator a ring you have never seen before.
Trade-in: "An article ceases to be present at or near a known location and soon afterwards a similar article is found in that location."

Barrington lists many real-life examples of such things in this document.

I have witnessed quite a few inexplicable events that could be put into one of these categories. In the "windfall" category I have witnessed the strange appearances described here and here and here and here.  In one case the "windfall" was a coin rolling up from behind me when I was alone in my apartment.  A more recent case rather seeming like a "windfall" occurred last week. A few seconds after thinking of my late father, I noticed a penny close to the exact center of the rug in front of me (a thin rug, not a shag rug). I had been sitting in front of that rug for at least six hours without noticing such a coin.  This is one of innumerable such cases I have seen involving coins.

I also recently experienced what could be classified as a "comeback."  The unit shown below is one that I use in recharging my Sony A6000 camera.  I keep the unit below the end of my bed, on the floor, right next to an electrical outlet.  Several days ago the unit seemed to mysteriously disappear. I thoroughly looked all around the floor and bed, and could find no trace of it.  Yesterday I found it, at just exactly the spot where I normally keep it (on the floor, right next to the outlet) -- the spot that I would have been most likely to have found it while I was looking.
