I took the two photos below while photographing nothing but ordinary drops of pure, clean water falling against a dark background. We see the strange thing I have photographed 60+ times before: what I call orb rings. One of them is blue. In the photo at right, you can see right through the ring holes.
Put some water drops on a plate, and then try using a needle to turn the drops into water rings. You will find this is impossible. Given the properties of water, the appearance of ring shapes in photos such as these is inexplicable.
