An Orb Shutting Down Nuclear Missiles?

At www.politico.com, we read a reference to Wisconsin Congressman Mike Gallagher:

"Gallagher also raised eyebrows by asking about a high-profile report of a 'glowing red orb' that was reportedly observed over Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana in 1967, 'in which 10 of our nuclear ICBMs were rendered inoperable.' ”

A Shape-Shifting Glowing Orb?

In an interesting book by Aleksandr Aksakov, we have the following account:

"About the end of July, 1896, Madam d'Esperance came to Paris for a brief visit. In the presence of five persons [Madam Aksakof, Madam Boutlerof, her friend the Baronne de Zeidlitz, Madam Cauvin and myself], she tried to see how much of her mediumistic power she had regained. She sat upon a sofa, we upon chairs ; the lights were extinguished and we waited in silence, without forming a chain. After a few moments we all saw a luminous ball in the direction of the medium, at about the height of her chest, as it seemed to us. The ball looked like mist, or a luminous fog. It spread out towards the floor, then contracted, assumed the most various shapes, and at times displayed very brilliant points, like small stars. Finally, Madam Cauvin, who seemed to be entirely unfamiliar with such manifestations, thought she recognized the form of an infant. She became alarmed, wished to get away, cried out, and made so much trouble as to put an end to the manifestations. The luminous vapor diminished in volume, and finally disappeared."

Something Very Spooky

I'm an old DOS man, and have been using command-line prompts since the 1980's, although with today's graphical user interfaces such as Windows, I don't use command-line prompts very often. When I want to record something in a text file, half of the time I'll click on the black icon at the bottom of my screen, go to a command-line prompt, use "CD" to go to the desired directory, and type "Notepad" to bring up an editor. Probably the other half of the time, I'll just click on the Notepad icon.

Today just after starting up my computer I was about to use the first of these methods. I clicked on my black square "Command Prompt" icon, to get a command line prompt, which looked like this:

I tried to shift to a different directory by starting to type only the "CD" command, but there was no response to my input, as if the computer was frozen. Then, most mysteriously, for no reason I can fathom, the Command Prompt screen changed to look like this:

For this to happen I would have had to have typed this command:

C:\Users\Mark\Desktop\InCaseOfMyDeath

But I typed no such command. I had pressed only two keyboard keys this morning when I saw such a screen, and did not do anything to refer to this "InCaseOfMyDeath" folder or directory in which I very long ago wrote something providing instructions on what to do in case I die. I didn't even remember the directory (which I haven't used in years) existed in such a place. The fact that the directory name ("InCaseOfMyDeath") referred to my own death may have something to do with this mysterious occurrence. Was some kind of spooky death warning occurring?

The Orb and the Congressional Committee

Today was the first US Congress hearing in 50 years on the topic of UFOs.  A news report on the hearing says this (referring to Unidentified Aerial Phenomena or UAPs):

"Deputy Director of Naval Intelligence Scott Bray testified that reports of UAPs are 'frequent' and have been on the rise for more than a decade. He showed lawmakers previously classified video of a spherical object zooming past an F-18 fighter jet."

Its Strange Features

We see below a mysterious orb I photographed indoors. We see three features: a ring near the outer edge of the orb, a yellow glow on the bottom left, and a strange kind of half-circle (rather purple-looking) on the bottom left.

She Saw a Growing Orb

The book Man's Survival After Death by Charles Tweedale is a book of astonishing narratives, many being eyewitness accounts of the paranormal by the author.  You can read the book for free at www.archive.org. On page 278 we have this account of an orb growing in size, one seen by the author's wife:

"I now lit  a candle,  and  my  wife  informed  me  that  shortly  before she  awoke  me  she  was  herself  awakened,  and  perceived  a bright  globular  light  at  the  bed’s  foot,  just  at  my  feet,  but apparently  projected  upon  or  enclosing  the  brass  rail. At  first  it  was  the  size  of  a large  orange,  but  began  to  increase in  height  and  breadth  until  at  the  lapse  of  a minute  it  had the  diameter  of  a man’s  body,  and  stood  up  three  feet  above the  brass  rail."

A Spooky Event

This morning when I woke up at about 8:00 I noticed my alarm clock blinking with a time of 12:10. You can explain that by imagining an interruption of the power supply, occurring about 10 minutes before I awoke (although another electrical alarm clock in the home had no such anomaly; it was not blinking, and showed the correct time).  What was very strange was that plugged into the same electrical outlet was a sound machine that was still running normally (making a waterfall sound), and had an alarm clock showing a time of 4:00 (I had never set the sound machine's clock to the correct time). I use the sound machine for generating a waterfall sound that I find helps me sleep. I tested what happens if you interrupt the power of the sound machine: it stops the sound, and resets the machine's clock to 12:00.

So how can we explain the alarm clock having a blinking time of 12:10 and the sound machine (plugged into the same outlet) not looking as it would have looked (or being silent as it would have been) if there had been some interruption in electrical power about 10 minutes before 8? I can think of no mundane physical explanation that covers this case.  The alarm clock was a meter away from the end of my bed, and could not have been accidentally disturbed.

Both today's case and the case discussed here seemingly cannot be explained under any electrical power failure idea, but both could be explained under the idea of some invisible force pulling out the alarm clock's electrical cord, and then pushing it back in.  I can imagine a reason why some invisible force might want to do that. The unplugging of the alarm clock may have symbolized death, and its plugging back in may have symbolized life after death.

Postscript: The same thing happened on July 17, 2022. I woke up around 8:50 AM and saw my alarm clock blinking, showing a time of about 2:10. Another machine (a sound machine with a digital clock) in the same room showed the correct time, just as if there had been no interruption in its power supply.

Post-postscript: The same thing happened on December 11, 2023. I woke up shortly after midnight, and found the alarm clock blinking. From the time displayed, I deduced that the power had been mysteriously interrupted at 11:55 PM on December 11.

Was She an Orb During Her Out-of-Body Experience?

In the book Astral Projection by Brad Steiger, we read an account sent to Brad by a woman who was given ether before her surgery. The woman said after hearing a strange noise, she "seemed to be bobbing like a balloon on a string." On page 42 she says this:

"This is the best comparison I can make: I was a shining balloon attached to my body by a silver string. I could see my body below me, and two interns still chattering about their plans for the evening."

The woman recalled seeing radiant beings in some beautiful place she thought was Heaven, and recalled being told that she could stay there for a while, but had to go back. Later she found herself "bobbing near the ceiling of a hospital room," before finally finding herself back in her body.

The "string" referred to may have been the "silver cord" so often reported in out-of-body experiences. The works of Robert Crookall give many examples of people reporting during an out-of-body experience that there was a cord or string or rope-like thing connecting their body and their floating soul or soul-body. On the page here (page 138 of his book What Happens When You Die), Crookall lists more than 30 examples of people reporting such a string or cord or rope-like thing connecting the body and their floating soul or soul-body.

The Orb and the OBE

Robert Crookall's book What Happens When You Die has some fascinating accounts of out-of-body experiences. On page 28 we have an account in which a woman says she floated through a wall during an out-of-body experience. She says that she then saw a gray orb "stationary over the roof-tops."  She said she got the impression of being watched by the orb, and then "returned to her body."  She says that twenty-three days later she again saw the orb, which she described as a "globe."
