The Stripes Below the Stripes

I took the photos below while photographing only ordinary drops of pure, clean water falling in front of a black featureless background.  We see orbs that have four vertical stripes under a horizontal stripe.

The photo below shows a striped orb I photographed above a building in New York.  It's one of 200+ striped orbs I've photographed in the air.

There was no fog, mist, rain or precipitation on this night.
