I took the photo below while photographing nothing but pure, clean drops of water falling against a dark background. We see another example of what I call an orb veil. See here for hundreds of examples.
I have classified 18 types of these strange objects, as shown in the grid below. This example seems like an instance of the semi-circular type.

The Weird Sidekick of the Column of Crescents
Photo date: February 22, 2017. Photographer: Mark Mahin.
I took the photo below while photographing nothing but ordinary drops of pure clean water falling against a dark background. We see one of the strange objects I call orb veils. The object appeared with an apparent size of about 6 inches, taking up 60% of the original photo height. We see some of the typical characteristics of orb veils: a polygon shape with lots of spiky points, a kind of membrane-like edge, and lots of little internal circles. On the right is a column of what I call orb crescents. See here for a video showing 100+ photos of these strange orb veils.

The Gradient Colors of the Orb Veil
Photo date: June 29, 2016. Photographer: Mark Mahin.
These days I don't get very many of the strange objects I call orb veils. I used to get them much more frequently, and I have taken 186 photos of them (watch this video to see the best photos). But on this day I got a fairly good one, one with an apparent size of about 5 inches. Notice the strange gradient progression of colors. The bottom color is orange, but then the colors progress to yellowish green and then blue.

A Semi-circular Orb Veil
Photo date: March 18, 2016. Photographer: Mark Mahin.
The photo below was taken while photographing nothing but ordinary drops of pure, clean water falling against a dark featureless background. We see an example of what I call an orb veil. I have previously photographed these strange things more than 160 times, but this is the first sizable one I've photographed in quite a while. This object was about the size of a baseball.
The semi-circular type of orb veil is one of 18 types I have identified, which are shown in the visual below (open in a separate browser tab to see at higher resolution).

Look Through the Top Orb Veil to See Another One
Photo date: January 17, 2016. Photographer: Mark Mahin.
The photos below were taken while photographing nothing but ordinary drops of pure, clean water falling against a dark featureless background. We see here two examples of the strange things I call orb veils. The spiky one on top is transparent, and you can look right through it to see another semi-circular orb veil that is brighter. The objects had an apparent size of several inches.

Enigmatic Half-Circles
The photow below was taken while photographing nothing but ordinary drops of pure, clean water falling against a dark featureless background. The first one from December 17, 2015 shows a strange half-circle that appeared with a size of several inches.
The second one, from January 4, 2016 shows another semi-circular object:
These objects are what I call orb veils. This semi-circular shape is only one of the many shapes these mysterious things take. Below is a composite photo of many different types. Open up the large image in a separate browser tab to see the image at its full resolution and read the different category types.

Mysterious Object Is Like Some Weird Alien Brain
Photo date: December 19, 2015. Photographer: Mark Mahin.
The photo below was taken while photographing nothing but ordinary drops of pure, clean water falling against a dark featureless background. We see one of the strange objects that I call orb veils. This one (with an apparent size of about 4 inches) has a particularly colorful bottom. Typically these strange things have one or two little concentric circles inside them, but this one has nine of these concentric circles.
See here for 123 other photos of these orb veils.

A Blue Orb Veil
Photo date: November 13, 2015. Photographer: Mark Mahin.
The photo below was taken while photographing ordinary drops of pure, clean water falling against a dark featureless background. We see one of the strange objects I call orb veils. These strange things normally appear with a white color, although 22 times I have photographed them with an orange color. Six times before I have photographed them with a fully or partially blue color. We also see some equally baffling orb crescents on the left.

The 2 "Eyes" of an Orange Orb Veil
Photo date: September 11, 2015. Photographer: Mark Mahin.
The photo below was taken while photographing ordinary drops of pure, clean water falling against a dark featureless background. We see one of the mysterious objects I call orb veils.
Like many of these strange objects, this one has an internal "eye" consisting of concentric rings. In this case there are two. Note how closely the object above conforms to the diagram I published below on July 28, which was based on the most common characteristics I observe in these strange objects.
See my posts labeled "orb veils" for many similar examples, or see this poster of orb veils.

The Orange Orb Crescent and the Infinity Symbol
Photo date: September 14, 2015. Photographer: Mark Mahin.
The unaltered photo below was taken while photographing ordinary drops of pure, clean water falling against a dark featureless background. We see three anomalous things here. The first is the orange crescent shape. See my posts labeled "orb crescent" for numerous other examples. Then there is the strange infinity sign that can be seen at the center of the photo. In the background we have one of the strange objects I call an orb veil, although it appears much more dimly than in many other photos I have of similar objects.

Juxtaposition of the Marvels
Photo date: July 27, 2015. Photographer: Mark Mahin.
The photo below was taken while photographing pure, clean water drops falling against a dark background. We see in the background one of the mysterious objects I call an orb veil. Apparently in front of the orb veil are some equally mysterious objects I call orb crescents.
This orb veil has some of the typical characteristics of an orb veil. The illustration below shows some of the typical visual features of an orb veil. See my posts labeled "orb veil" for photos of orb veils that have these characteristics. See also my posts labeled "orb crescent" for many photos of orb crescents.

Water Enigma
Photo date: April 16, 2015. Photographer: Mark Mahin.
The photo below was taken while photographing water drops falling against a dark backdrop. The apparent width of the object was about 3 or 4 inches.
I often get these strange things in my water drop photos. This one almost looks like some strange living creature. These "orb veils" (as I call them) never cast a shadow, and look as if they are some type of energy or plasma. See my posts labeled "orb veils" for 23 similar photos.

Wispy and Wondrous
Photo date: April 17, 2015. Photographer: Mark Mahin.
The photo below was taken while simply photographing clean, pure water drops falling against a dark background. We see a strange wispy thing that I call an orb veil, which had an apparent size of about 4 inches. We also see at least 10 inexplicable crescent shapes, as well as some "half orbs." See my posts labeled "orb veil" for 15 photos of this unexplained "orb veil" phenomenon, and see my posts labeled "orb crescent" for 12 other photos of orb crescents. Other orb photographers have reported these veil-like structures appearing while orbs were photographed.

Paranormal Twofer: Orb Crescents Next to "Orb Veil"
Photo date: April 6, 2015. Photographer: Mark Mahin.
Believe it or not, the photo below was simply taken of nothing but ordinary water drops falling in front of a dark background. We see two anomalous things. On the left, we see what I call orb crescents. On the right we see what I call an orb veil. See my posts labeled "orb crescent" and "orb veil" for similar examples of these strange things.
This isn't a very clear dramatic example of an orb veil, so let me show another example that is more dramatic. As in the example above, the photo was taken while photographing ordinary water drops against a dark background.
We see structural features that are similar in both examples of orb veils, particularly the little pointy shaped things on the outer edges.
Neither of these photos was taken with a zoom lens, and I wasn't using the "macro" setting on my camera. I estimate the width of both of these "orb veils" as being a few inches.
