Blue Edges of the Half Orbs

I took the photos below on February 14, 2018 and March 19, 2018.  We see some of the strange half-orbs that I occasionally get (with fully round orbs being much more common). Both of the half orbs have a blue edge.

Below is another example from March 16, 2018.

An interesting speculation is that such photos show an orb in the process of appearing, hence the lack of full roundness.

There was no fog, mist, rain or precipitation on these nights.

The Flat-Edged Orbs Both Had Stripes

We see below two mysterious orbs I photographed indoors.  Both have a flat edge (like many orbs I photograph), and also a stripe in the top left corner.

Hurtling Half-Orb

Dumbfounding Dopplegangers

The photo below shows two mysterious orbs I photographed near a wreath in Grand Central Terminal in New York. Both have an identical appearance, showing the flat-edged type of orb I get in a very small percentage of cases (probably less than 1% of the time).

Half Orbs

Almost all of the mysterious orbs I get are fully circular, but occasionally one of my Sony cameras picks up what looks like half orbs.  Below are some examples, from September 26, 2017, August 23, 2017, and July 31, 2017. See here and here for lots of other examples of such half-orbs.

There was no fog, mist, rain or precipitation on any of the nights these photos were taken.

Colorful Flat-Edge Orbs

The photos below show two mysterious orbs I photographed on August 22, 2017 and August 21, 2017.  Both have a flat edge on one side.

 Below is a strange sky thing I photographed last night, something with two flat edges.

There was no fog, mist, rain or precipitation while I was photographing on either of these nights.

The Spooky Little Spot

The photos below show two mysterious orbs I photographed in front of the same little ceiling spot at Grand Central Terminal in New York.  The top orb is one of 140 speeding blue orbs I have photographed. 

Was That the Orb's Reflection in the Window?

The photo below shows a mysterious blue orb I photographed near a building. In a nearby window we see what almost looks like a reflection of the orb.   Or maybe it's just a much dimmer orb with a similar shape.

The Half Orb's Bizarre Division

We see a bizarre division in the half-orb shown below, with the lower half being orange, and the upper half being green.

Strange "Sawed" Orbs

Since buying a Sony a5000 camera (one I am quite happy with), I notice that a small fraction (less than 5%) of the mysterious orbs I photograph have a kind of "sawed" appearance, as if someone had sawed off one edge of the orb. Below are three photos showing orbs with such an appearance, one of which has an unusual cyan color.

There as no fog, mist, rain or precipitation on this night. The air quality listed on airnow.gov was "good."

"Sawed" Sky Orb

As shown here, I occasionally photograph mysterious orbs that look as if one edge of the orb had been sawed off. Below is an example, one with a vivid shade of blue.

The Three Weird Things About This Orb

The photo below shows a strange orb I photographed near a high window in Grand Central Terminal. We see an odd flat edge that I don't very often see in orbs. There's also a thick stripe. One side of the orb has a kind of blue glow, and the other side of the orb has a yellow-green glow.

They Haunt These Window Frames

The photos below show mysterious orbs I photographed near the ornamental window frames in Grand Central Terminal in New York on February 10, 2017 and February 8, 2017.  The one in the top left corner has an interesting "gray on the top, blue in the middle" look that I haven't seen before.  See here for 16 other photos of blue orbs perching on these same window frames.

Floating Weirdness of the Stripy Green Orb

The photo below shows a mysterious orb I photographed indoors. There are three weird things about the orb: the green color, the flat edge on the left, and the very strange stripes that almost seem to form a big curvy "X."

Green Edge of the Blue Orb

The photo below shows an unusual orb I photographed near a window in Grand Central Terminal. The blue orb has a weird green edge that is flat.

Flattop Orb and the "Phantom Face"

Besides showing a mysterious white orb, one with an unusually flat top, the photo below I took in  Grand Central Terminal in New York seems to show something even weirder.  Look closely in the bottom right part of the corner, in the space between the two figures.  You can rather seem to see a grinning phantom face.

Below is a closeup of the strange anomaly. The "teeth" are in the middle.

A Speeding "Sawed" Orb

I have at least a dozen times photographed mysterious orbs that look as if one edge had been sawed off (as shown here).  An example is shown on the left of the photo below, from May 24, 2016. On the right is a photo I took on August 22, 2016 showing what looks like one of these "sawed" orbs in the act of speeding.

Flat-top Orb Playing "Shoulder Spook"?
