Stairway to Incineration?

The photo below was taken at the Stephen Schwartzman branch of the New York Public Library, and shows an example of the strange effect I call the light metamorphosis, in which light rays seem to get enormously amplified.  We see a woman walking up a stairway, and it looks almost as if she is walking toward a fate of incineration by those laser-like beams. I am reminded of the climactic scene at the end of Wagner's Ring Cycle, in which Brunhilda rides her horse into the flames.

The photo was a non-flash with an exposure of only .74 second.

The High, High Levitation of the Information Desk Lights

The photo below was taken in Grand Central Terminal in New York.  We see something incredibly strange. At the bottom is the circular information desk at the center of the station. But look at the top -- there we see a ghostly ring of lights that seems to be some spooky version of the ring of lights found at the bottom. It is as if the ring of lights has somehow levitated way up to the top of the very high ceiling.

The exposure time on this photo was a single second.

The Odd Rays Rose Like Rockets

The photo below shows another example of the strange effect I call the light metamorphosis. When this effect occurs, light rays seem to be amplified enormously, and often rise way up, sometimes bending in strange ways. In this example, it is as if the light rays had some ambition of touching the clouds.

The photo was taken in front of the Schwartzman branch of the New York Public Library.

Strange Dance of the Spiral Light Rays

The photo below was taken in Grand Central Terminal, and shows an example of the strange, strange phenomenon I call the light metamorphosis, in which light rays rise way up from their source, often bending in strange ways. We see a strange "spiral staircase" effect near the top.

Another photo from the same day shows an equally weird effect.

These photos were non-flash photos with an exposure of less than a second (I have taken many similar photos that are flash photos with an exposure of only 1/30 of a second, as shown here).  The camera was not moving when the photos were taken.

Haunted Hotel?

The photo below shows the entrance of a hotel that used to be carefully managed by the late Leona Helmsley.  We can only wonder whether she is still hanging around, creating this strange light manifestation.

Wiggly Ascent of the Strange Rays

The photo below was taken in Grand Central Terminal in New York City.  We see some light rays that seem to have been untutored in the rules of physics. It's another example of the strange effect I call the light metamorphosis.

Weird Rays of the Wondrous Window

The photo below shows a window in the Schwartzman branch of the New York Public Library. We see light rays that seem to emit from the window like energy from a Star Wars lightsaber.  It's another example of the strange effect I call the light metamorphosis.

The Odd Light Soared Up to the High, High Ceiling

The photo below was taken in Grand Central Terminal in New York, where we see the very astonishing effect I call the light metamorphosis, in which light rays rise way up from their source, often bending in inexplicable ways.  Notice the squiggly twists the light rays take near the top of the photo.

A Shocking Sight: The Spiral Light Rays

The unaltered photo below was taken in Grand Central Terminal in New York, where we see an incredibly weird permutation of the most astonishing effect I call the light metamorphosis, in which light rays rise way up from their source, often bending in inexplicable ways.  Here we see the light rays making a spiral twist. Is this some symbolic manifestation by some higher force, in which a DNA molecule is being symbolized?
