Holes by the Thousands

Photo date: December 30, 2020. Photographer: Mark Mahin.

I took the photos below while photographing only ordinary drops of pure, clean water falling in front of a black featureless background.  On this day I got thousands of orbs with a big hole near their center, which appeared in almost all of 500+ consecutive photos. Below are some examples.

A Two-Part Orb Pattern

Photo date: December 28, 2020. Photographer: Mark Mahin.

I took the photos below while photographing only ordinary drops of pure, clean water falling in front of a black featureless background.  We see a two-part pattern rather resembling a face looking to the right.

Marks on a Mark

Yesterday I noticed long red scratches on my arm that I cannot explain, having no memory of recently being scratched, and no memory of my arm recently being itchy or irritated.  Below is a photo taken about a day after I first noticed such scratches. Such scratches are particularly baffling when they appear in the winter, as I know I have been wearing a heavy jacket to go outdoors, which rules out any explanation such as brushing by a branch.  I also wear long sleeves in the winter, which pretty much rules out any daytime appearance. I am never disturbed or concerned when I observe any such anomalies.  I see a variety of attempted explanations on the Internet for this type of scratch, which include "mattress springs" and cats, neither of which I have.

Postscript:  A few days after publishing this post, I found two other red scratches, on the back of my shoulder. As a test to see whether I had any sharp fingernails, I tried scratching the back of my hand vigorously, with the nails on both hands; but no red mark was produced.

The Holes and the Shadow Stripes

Photo date: December 23, 2020. Photographer: Mark Mahin.

I took the photos below while photographing only ordinary drops of pure, clean water falling in front of a black featureless background. On this day I got (in almost all of 1500+ consecutive photos) orbs with a large hole at the bottom.  There also irregularly appeared strange stripes consisting of multiple parallel lines. Below are some examples.

Still More Massively Repeating Orb Motifs Arising from Falling Water

There are several ways in which you can see the most astonishing examples of photos I have taken of inexplicable anomalies that appeared when I photographed falling water drops. One way is to use the link here, which will allow you to traverse through many different posts.  This requires for you to keep clicking on the Older Posts link when you come to the bottom right of a page.  Using such a method, you can see multiple examples of most of the patterns shown on this page. Or you can use the link here to view a very long free online book of mine that has the same photos. A quicker way to survey such astounding anomalies is to simply view the photos in this post and the similar summary posts here and here. In this post I will be showing only one example from any single one of the posts you can see through the technique described above.

I took all of the photos below by photographing only pure, clean water falling in front of a black featureless background.

On one day I got the striking two-part pattern shown below, which occured in almost all of 1000+ consecutive photos.

On one day I got the two-part pattern below, which persisted through almost all of hundreds of consecutive photos.

On one day I got the three-part pattern below, which persisted through almost all of hundreds of consecutive photos.

On one day I got the seven-part pattern shown below, which persisted through almost all of more than forty consecutive photos.

On one day I got orbs with many stripes inside them, an effect that repeated for many consecutive photos. Below are examples, in which we see an uncanny alignment of stripes in side-by-side orbs.

orbs with many stripes

On one day I got the three-part pattern below, consisting of a row of circles inside orbs. The pattern persisted for almost all of 100+ consecutive photos.

On one day I got a two-part pattern consisting of a small circle above a much larger oval hole. On this day I got about 1000 orbs with such a pattern, which appeared in almost all of hundreds of consecutive photos.

On one day I photographed a pattern consisting of two holes next to each other, the one on the right being larger. The pattern persisted through almost all of hundreds of consecutive photos.

Another pattern (also containing the feature on the left) persisted for almost all of a thousand photos, as shown here.

On one day I got in almost all of 500+ consecutive photos orbs with both a large hole on the left and a large notch on the right, as you can see here and here. Below are some examples:

On one day I got semi-oval orb holes appearing in almost all of 1000+ consecutive photos (see here for other examples).

On one day I got the rather complex orb indentation below in almost all of 500+ consecutive photos:

On one day I got hundreds of examples of a "circle under the top notch" pattern. Below are sone examples, somee of very many in which veil-like objects appeared above the pattern.

On one day I photographed 20,000+ orbs that all had a ring-like feature on the left bottom edge of the orb. Inside the ring there sometimes face-like features. Below are four examples.

On one day I got orbs with lemon-shaped holes in almost all of 400+ consecutive photos. Below are some examples.

On one day I got quite a few orbs that looked rather like faces looking to the left.

On one day I got thousands of orbs with large oval holes.

On one day I got more than 1000 half-oval holes in orbs, which appeared in almost all of hundreds of consecutive photos.

On one day I got the two-part orb pattern below, consisting of  a large hole and a smaller hole below it.

On one day I got more than 1000 pairs of orb holes, the one on the left always being bigger. Below are some examples:

On one day I got an astonishing pattern consisting of a large feature on the left top, a smaller feature on the right top top, and a small triangular feature above the top of the orb. Below are some examples.
