I took the photos below while photographing only ordinary drops of pure, clean water falling in front of a black featureless background. On this day I got hundreds of occurrences of a "circle under the top notch" pattern, which appeared in almost all of more than 100 consecutive photos. In all of the cases below, we see veil-like structures above such a pattern.
