The photo below was taken in Grand Central Terminal in New York. We see an example of the strange effect I call the light metamorphosis, in which light rays rise far up from their source, often bending in strange ways.
The photo was a flash photo with an exposure of .62 second, taken with my Sony DSC-W830 camera. Now a skeptic may say, "You should have used a shorter exposure time; then there would have been no such light streaks." But below (from March 12, 2016) is a flash photo taken with an exposure of only 1/30 of a second, using my Olympus camera, using normal camera settings (not "night photo" settings). The streaks are still there. In fact, most of the photos I have taken of these strange streaks have been flash photos that used an exposure of only 1/30 of a second, with normal camera settings, without using any "Night photo" camera settings.
Some weird camera malfunction, perhaps? Not likely, as we see the effect with two different cameras.

The High, High Levitation of the Information Desk Lights

The photo below was taken in Grand Central Terminal in New York. We see something incredibly strange. At the bottom is the circular information desk at the center of the station. But look at the top -- there we see a ghostly ring of lights that seems to be some spooky version of the ring of lights found at the bottom. It is as if the ring of lights has somehow levitated way up to the top of the very high ceiling.
The exposure time on this photo was a single second.

The Normal Crowd and the Abnormal Light

The photo below was taken in Grand Central Terminal in New York. When I zoom in on the group in the front, I can see their faces quite clearly, and their faces look normal. But what is with that weird twisty light behind them?
The photo was a flash photo, and the EXIF data shows an exposure time of less than a second -- .62 second, although given the flash, the effective exposure time was probably much shorter. This blog has quite a few similar photos in which the exposure time is only 1/30 of a second.

Like Some Grand Hall at the Jedi Temple

A Shocking Sight: The Spiral Light Rays

The unaltered photo below was taken in Grand Central Terminal in New York, where we see an incredibly weird permutation of the most astonishing effect I call the light metamorphosis, in which light rays rise way up from their source, often bending in inexplicable ways. Here we see the light rays making a spiral twist. Is this some symbolic manifestation by some higher force, in which a DNA molecule is being symbolized?

The Rays From Her Smartphone Rose Astonishingly High

Kinky Scene at Grand Central

The photo below was taken in Grand Central Terminal in New York. We see what I have photographed here 16 times before: the strange phenomenon I call the light metamorphosis, in which light rises way up from its source, and bends in weird ways. In this example, the light from the TV screens first seems to move toward the huge window, and then quickly "changes its mind" and bends back in the opposite direction.
Pardon my double entendre with the word "kinky," which has as one of its definitions "having turns or twists." The photo was a flash photo with an exposure time of 1/30 of a second, using normal camera settings (no "Night picture" setting).

Levitation of the TV Images in Grand Central

The unaltered photo below was taken in Grand Central Terminal in New York. We see the strange phenomenon I call the light metamorphosis, in which light rises up from its source, often bending in strange ways. In this example we see what I have shown many times occurring with my own home TV set: the levitation of a TV image. At the center of the photo, we see two image rectangles rising up above the TV screens where they originated (there were only 3 TV screens in this part of the station). This is the same effect I have photographed 15 times occurring on my own home TV, as shown in this series of posts.

Anomalous Bending of Light at Grand Central

The photo below was taken in Grand Central Terminal in New York. We see light rays rising far up from their sources, making snaky paths that make a mockery out of the claim that light always travels in straight lines.
Another photo from the same day shows the same effect. We can see from the sharp details here that this was not caused by a moving camera (which would have caused everything in the photo to look streaked).
The photos were flash photos with an exposure time of 1/30 of a second, using normal camera settings (no "Night photo" setting). The photos were taken by an old point-and-click digital camera using no special settings.
