The photo below was taken in Grand Central Terminal in New York. When I zoom in on the group in the front, I can see their faces quite clearly, and their faces look normal. But what is with that weird twisty light behind them?
The photo was a flash photo, and the EXIF data shows an exposure time of less than a second -- .62 second, although given the flash, the effective exposure time was probably much shorter. This blog has quite a few similar photos in which the exposure time is only 1/30 of a second.
