The photo below shows Grand Central Terminal in New York, where we see the strange effect I call the light metamorphosis, in which light rays seem to be mysteriously amplified, and rise up far from their source, often bending in strange ways.
Another photo from the same day shows the same effect.
These photos were flash photos taken with my Sony camera (not the Olympus camera I have normally used when such photos were taken). The EXIF data on the photos indicates they all had an exposure of a second or less, although since they were flash photos, the effective exposure time was probably much shorter.
