NASA Conference Confesses the Reality of Translucent Orbs

An article on today's Daily Mail site (www.dailymail.com) has this headline:

"NASA holds historic UFO hearing: Agency unveils first findings from study into unidentified craft in our skies AND oceans - as Pentagon chief FINALLY admits 'metallic orbs' have been seen 'all over the world' "

But don't conclude from this that all the strange orbs seen are metallic. At the 32:00 mark of the video here, a 4 -hour video of the NASA conference, we see a conference screen that has the visual below. The UAP refers to "unidentified aerial phenomena." I have circled the word "translucent" on the screen. Translucent orbs are not metallic.

UFO shapes

At the 32:33 mark in the video we hear a narrator saying "the vast majority of what has been reported  and what we have data on -- a little less than half now -- are orbs, round spheres." The choice of words is careless, because if you have a little less than half that is not a "vast majority."

Alas, it seems NASA is not properly studying this topic, because if the NASA guys had properly studied it, they would not be claiming that the altitude of translucent orbs is between 10K and 30K feet (in other words, 10,000 feet to 30,000 feet). Any serious and thorough study of this topic would have revealed both of these facts:

(1)  that translucent orbs have been photographed for many years both in the sky and indoors, with there being thousands of good photos (both indoors and outdoors) in many colors such as blue, green, pink, yellow, purple, orange and red;

(2) that many observers have reported seeing with their eyes translucent orbs both in the sky and indoors.

I am currently in the process of publishing a 4-part series on naked-eye observations of mysterious orbs. The first installation can be viewed here. The second installation can be viewed here.

It seems that NASA is taking a very restricted "horse blinders" approach, paying attention only to orbs reported as appearing high in the sky in recent years. My advice to the agency is: if you want to study mysterious orbs seriously, throw away the horse blinders, and pay attention to all the reports and photos of mysterious orbs that have been observed throughout history, indoors and outdoors.

A Green Orb

Photo date: May 28, 2023. Photographer: Mark Mahin.

We see below a mysterious green orb I photographed indoors.

mysterious green orb

Strangely, the last four photos I have taken of mysterious green orbs have all shown a green orb that appeared at about the same spot: in front of a one-meter-tall chest of drawers. Is some mysterious reality trying to draw my attention to something in one of those drawers?

They Saw a Mysterious Orb in Their Plane

book on ball lightning quotes a case of a stewardess reporting a mysterious orb inside an aircraft:

"Suddenly a bright golden sphere of about 40-50 cm in diameter [about 15 inches] appeared amongst the three of us...It shot down the aisle toward the rear of the plane. We three saw it for sure...There cannot have been a thunderstorm outside, because then we would have been sitting with the seat belts fastened."

A case like this should be classified as a mysterious orb rather than ball lightning,  because a lack of any thunderstorm, lightning storm, explosion, high voltage or outdoor location  Below is a reasonable algorithm for whether we should use the term "ball lightning" when people report seeing mysterious spheres:

An Orb at the Hour of Death

Basking in the glitzy neon glow and glittering shallow sparkle of our current age, some may regard it as an Age of Light, although I can think of some reasons why people of the future may regard our age as rather like an Age of Darkness. One reason is that almost all of our experts are so very bad at paying attention to a hundred important phenomena deserving of careful study, phenomena that give us important clues about who we are and what type of universe we live in. It wasn't always this way. Back in the late nineteenth century experts studied such phenomena with the utmost care, producing works like the massive two-volume work Phantasms of the Living, which documents many hundreds of apparition sightings. You can read the work online here and here.

In volume 2 of the work, page 76, we read the following account of an orb seen at the hour of death.

"About  the  year  1841,  I  was  in  a  room  with  my  father  in  our house  in  the  Isle  of  Wight,  when  he  exclaimed,  'Good  God,  what  is  that?' starting  up  as  he  spoke,  and  apparently  looking  at  something.  He  then turned  to  me  and  said  that  he  had  seen  a  ball  of  light  pass  through  the room,  and  added,  'Depend  upon  it.  Nurse  Simonds  is  dead.'  This  was  an old  servant  in  London,  to  whom  he  had  been  sending  money,  in  illness. In  course  of  post  came  information  that  she  passed  away  at  the  very  time in  question."

Page 194 of the same volume tells us this:

"In  another,  a  luminous  ball  was  seen  in  a  corner  of  the  room. A  fourth  very  remarkable  instance,  of  the  brilliant  illumination  and then  sudden  darkening  of  an  empty  room,  is  described  to  us  by  the Rev.  Edward  Ram,  of  Norwich,  as  a  personal  experience  of  himself  and his  wife — but  this  was  in  a  house  where  other  unaccountable  phenomena have  been  observed ;  as  was  also  the  case  in  a  fifth  instance, where  a  light  is  described  by  one  percipient,  Mrs.  W.  B.  Richmond,  as  a  glow  over  the  whole  room,  out  of  which  (according  to  her recollection)  two  bright  little  balls  of  light  seemed  to  flash  out ;  and by  the  other  (her  mother)  as '  flickering  about'  specially  in  a  particular part  of  the  room.  In  none  of  these  cases  does  it  seem  possible that  the  light  was  in  any  way  cast  or  reflected  into  the  room  from outside."

He Saw Orbs in His Near-Death Experience

In the video here Randy Schiefer tells a long and very interesting story of his near-death experience. Orbs appear twice in the account. At the 18 minute mark, Randy tells how after seeing what looked like heavenly wonders, he found himself in a void:

"I was in a void...But there were orbs of light that were passing by."

At the 19:41 mark he says this:

"This orb of light caught my attention...It materialized into a human face."

Randy reports that the face said to tell Madison at the salon that her grandfather was okay; and that this was followed by a sight of someone making American flags and red, white and blue ribbons on a white porch. Randy said he did not recognize the name, but soon met such a Madison at a salon, who said her grandfather used to make flags and red, white and blue ribbons every Memorial Day, and used to love sitting on the white porch of his home.

An Orb Leaving a Dying Body?

The site www.nderf.org and the site www.iands.org are two of the main sites presenting accounts of near-death experiences. Looking at  some of the most recent accounts at the first of these sites, I quickly found the account below:

"This is about my wife, Vera Gonzalez, who passed on May 7th, 2016, and the attending physician assistant/NP-C and I witnessed a light orb leave her body within minutes of dying. A concentrated white orb-light came out of her chest through the sternum, rose and hovered momentarily and then departed the room while accelerating. I thought I was imagining things until the physician assistant asked me if I saw the light. He said he had seen it before and that it was Vera's spirit."

The full account is quite interesting. The husband reports the wife having a near-death experience before her death, including visions of deceased relatives. He describes some elements of these experiences in the first person, although he states, "All the questions I answered throughout this survey are an expression of how Vera felt and what she expressed (not me)."

Riess's = Reese's= A Reminder From the Other Side?

In my post from last year "Complex Subtle Reasoning and Precise Relevant Recollections in a Single Dream," I documented a case of an astonishing dream I had that managed to combine subtle and sophisticated philosophical reasoning along with very precise and relevant and detailed recall of facts pertinent to the reasoning I was delivering in the dream. Last night I had a similar dream. I dreamed I was arguing with a professor about the existence of ESP.

Making a very relevant and pertinent recall, in my dream I recited the astonishing success of the 1930's ESP test conducted by Professor Bernard F. Riess, a professor of Hunter College in New York City. The test was a remote test in which a woman at another location was asked to guess the value of a Zener card with 5 possible values. The expected chance result per session was only 5 correct guesses. But in one of the two series (with a total of 1850 cards guessed) the woman guessed an average of 18.24 cards correctly per 25 cards, achieving a phenomenal 73% accuracy rate (instead of the expected accuracy rate of 20%). This was the result in "Series A" of two series of tests with the young woman. This may have been the most successful ESP test ever recorded under scientific conditions. For details of the test, see my post "Better Than a Smoking Gun: The Riess ESP Test." We would never expect success so great to occur by chance if every person in the world was tested for ESP.

In my dream I did not recall the exact success percentage, but I do recall saying in my dream that it was greater than 65%, and that only a 20% success rate was expected. I also recall stating the test was a remote test, with Riess and the woman in different buildings. I also recall the dream ending with me advising the professor I was talking to that he should read Joseph Rhine's main book on ESP. The abstract of the Riess paper is here.  The Riess experiment is discussed on page 167-168 of Rhine's book Extra-sensory Perception After Sixty Years ( see here or here), the same book I mentioned in my dream.  Another discussion of the experiment is here.

This is the second dream I have had about Riess's ESP test. Before  writing down the details of the dream just after awaking last night, I recalled a remarkable connection involving the phrase "Riess's." The phrase "Riess's" sounds exactly the same as the phrase "Reese's." And that "Reese's" involves one of the most astonishing of the many very astonishing things I have witnessed.

I had described the 2016 "Reese's" event I refer to in my long post "Spookiest Events: A Deluxe Narrative."

"After returning to my apartment in the evening after being away for a while,  I was very surprised to see a piece of candy (a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup) right in front of the television set I had watched throughout most of the day, in a very noticeable position on the floor. My daughters were both away on this day, and the only other person who had been in the apartment was my wife (who never eats candy). I asked her about the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup, and she denied any knowledge of it. I had not bought this brand of candy in many months, nor had I seen any Reese's Peanut Butter Cup around my living quarters for many months prior to this day.  Given the piece of candy's position, it was inconceivable that I could have failed to notice it during the preceding afternoon and morning, when for five or more hours I was directly facing the position the candy was found, about 4 feet away. Reese's Peanut Butter Cup was my late mother's favorite snack."

I was never able to account for the appearance of this Reese's Peanut Butter Cup, which should never have been found where I found it. The connection with my late mother was very interesting. It is also very interesting that I had two dreams (on two different days) of the Riess's ESP test, with "Riess's" being the same sound as "Reese's."

There's one other strange detail in this tale of synchronicity. About twenty days ago I found in my front yard the wrapper below:

It's a wrapper from a Reese's candy, but not one ever bought by anyone in the house where I live. I knew Reese's made its famous peanut butter cup, but I never knew it made a "White Ghost" candy. The candy is probably only bought during the time around Halloween. But what would such a wrapper be doing in my front yard, six months after Halloween?

We seem to have here some astonishing synchronicity. It's rather as if some mysterious reality is trying to remind me of the 2016 event when I found my late mother's favorite snack at a spot that it never should have been in. Can the same reality explain why I have had 100+ dreams about my late mother and 100+ dreams about my late father since November 2020, along with 300+ dreams that seemed to suggest life after death (as documented here)? I suspect that there will be a notable additional aspect of this story that will one day appear. Stay tuned.

Postscript: A few hours after writing this post, a light in my bathroom mysteriously turned off and then turned back on a second or two later, as I was looking directly at the light. It's one of quite a few times I have seen this effect, as described here

Orb or Ghost Light?

The book Beyond the Impossible is a fascinating read about mysteries of the unknown, told in chronological order. On one page we read this:

"Glowing spheres have startled many travellers along the lonely stretches of road that criss-cross the vast expanse of Alexandria Station....Mysteriologists have uncovered several locations around the world where balls of light variously labelled will-o-the-wisps, ghost lights or spook lights, are regularly seen....The most famous examples are probably the American varieties, the Saratoga and Marfa lights of Texas, the Brown Mountain lights and Maco lights of North Carolina, and the Hornet spook lights of Missouri."

On the page here we read that some of these "ghost lights" are associated with reports of ghost sightings.   I was surprised to read of a "Spook Light Road" near Neosho, Missouri, where my grandmother lived most of her life. On the page here we read this account:

"In November 1977, a married couple climbing Mount Snezka...lost their way and found themselves in serious difficulties when it began to snow heavily. Realising their position was becoming serious the two climbers were suddenly confronted by a large blue globe which floated several feet off the ground, shining with a clear, warm light."

We are told the strange globe guided the two to safety.  At the page here we read this:

"Bobbing and bouncing along a dirt road in northeast Oklahoma is the Hornet Spook Light, a paranormal enigma for more than a century. Described most often as an orange ball of light, the orb travels from east to west along a four-mile gravel road."

Orb Guardian Angels?

In the video here, a photogenic young PhD candidate describes a near-death experience during a very severe medical problem. Around the 2:55 mark, she describes encountering three colored orbs that seemed to her like guardian angels, having colors of ruby, amethyst (purple) and emerald. It's quite an astonishing tale.
