Never So Striped, Part 1

I took the photos below while photographing only ordinary drops of pure, clean water falling in front of a black featureless background.  On this day I got a staggering phenomenon that persisted for many consecutive photos: orbs with many stripes. My photos showed two things I can never recall seeing before:  an alignment of the stripes in different orbs, and a weird kind of "fire ray" anomaly in which streaks of orange light seemed to come out of orbs (which I will show in Part 2 of this two-part post). The first photo grid shows very clearly three examples of the first of these anomalies, with the stripes aligning in three pairs of striped orbs:
