Baffling Appearances
Pockys are a tasty brand of snack food consisting of a long, thin coated biscuit. When I woke up on August 29, I found on my kitchen counter a sealed envelope of Pockys, like you find inside a box of Pockys. No one else was in the apartment. I asked my wife whether she had left this treat for me. She said she hadn't, and that it must have been one of my daughters. I asked one daughter whether she had left the treat for me. She said no, and that it must have been her sister. I asked my other daughter whether she had left the treat for me. She said no, it must have been her sister who did it. So everyone else in the household denied having left the pack of Pockys in the kitchen. I haven't bought the product in many years.
The next day something equally strange happened. I was sitting at the top of an apartment stairway, tying my shoes, when suddenly I heard a set of keys falling down the stairs, just as if they had fallen from my body. I assumed that they must have been my apartment keys, and that they had somehow fallen out of my pocket. When I walked down the stairs to get the keys, I found a set of keys I had never seen before. They were not my apartment keys, which were still in my pocket. No one else was in the stairway.
Since Pockys sounds like "Pock-keys," we have the "keys" sound in both of these strange cases of unexplained appearances.
Below are the keys that seemed to appear out of nowhere, One of the keys looked very old, and had the word "STAR" at the top.
The only imaginable natural theory I can think of to explain what I observed with these keys is the theory that someone might have previously dropped the keys at the top of the stairs, and that I might have kicked the keys before even seeing them. But there are three reasons why such a theory doesn't work. The first is that anyone dropping a key on the hard concrete of the stairs would have heard a distinct "klink" sound alerting him that his keys had dropped. The second reason is that I would have noticed a set of keys at the top of the stairs when I sat down at the top of the stairs. The third reason is that when I tested various foot movements such as I might naturally make when putting on my shoes at the top of the stairs, after putting the keys at the top of the the stairs, the result never caused the keys to fall down more than one step. But what I saw were the keys falling 8 or 9 steps. I am sure that when I heard the keys falling down the stairs, I had not made the vigorous type of kick someone would have to make to propel the keys all the way down the stairs. My feet weren't even moving when I heard the keys falling.
Baffling Pockys on one night, and baffling keys on the next. Suppose we subtract the "keys" sound from the "Pockys" sound -- we then get a "Pa" sound reminding me of my late father.
Postscript: The "STAR" key was made by Star Key Industries in Brooklyn. The company is referred to in this link, which suggests the company went out of business. The STAR logo shown on that page is the same as on the STAR key I found. A check of the New York corporate database says the company went out of business in 1998.
If the keys had been house keys dropped by a resident of my apartment house, the key ring would have included a key to the apartment entrance door. But neither of the keys matched my key to the apartment entrance door. Very strangely, the keys were sticky, and a hair was attached to one of the keys, with the hair sticking to a sticky glue-like material on the key. I wonder whether there is any connection between that fact and the incidents reported here.

I was surprised that someone in late 2022 expressed interest in seeing another photo of the keys shown above. Here is an additional photo I took on Feb. 1, 2023:

Dimes and Pennies Often Seem to Appear Mysteriously, But Almost Never Nickels
I
have a document keeping a record of all odd things that I observe
other than orbs that appear in my photos (this blog is the record of
my orb observations). In that document I have a record of more than
200 anomalous coin observations such as this inexplicable sighting of
a coin rolling up from behind me while I was alone at home. If I do
something like walk down the street and see a coin on the street, I
won't record it in this document. But if I suddenly notice a coin in
a spot that I had previously observed in the same hour and seen no
such coin, I will record such a coin sighting in the
document.
There's a laundromat that I go where I get countless anomalous-seeming coin observations. When I go into the laundromat, I always walk around looking for coins on the floor, and I virtually never find any. But then later on in the hour, one or two coins will tend to show up. I must have seen 70+ such coins that showed up at this laundromat after I had previously checked that there were no coins on its floor, and none of them were very close to people putting their clothes in the washers or dryers.

I must have seen 70+ such coins that showed up at this laundromat after I had previously checked that there were no coins on its floor, and none of them were very close to people putting their clothes in the washers or dryers.
Yesterday
it was the same old story. I went into the laundromat, and after
putting my clothes in a washer, I looked around the floors to see if
there were coins on the floor. There were none. Then about 30 minutes
later I noticed a dime in a very noticeable spot where I had just
walked past a few minutes ago without noticing such a dime. I had walked past the spot
three times before that day without noticing any such dime, but now
there was a dime in the spot. A few minutes later I found another dime on
the floor.
In
such cases I get a very strong feeling that the very improbable has
happened. But is there way for me to mathematically verify the very
high improbability of my coin sightings? There is one way.
Since
2014 the breakdown of the number of anomalous-seeming coins I have
sighted is as follows: 121 pennies, only two nickels, 20 quarters,
and 62 dimes, for a total of 205 coins. We can compare such numbers
to the 2016 US production of pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters.
The US production numbers are as follows:
In
light of such numbers, it seems very unusual that I have only got 2
nickels in my set of 205 anomalous-seeming coins. Given the fact that
about almost 10 percent of the cents, nickels, dimes and quarters
issued in 2016 were nickels, it seems that I should have got about 18
nickels, if mere chance was involved.
There
is a way to calculate how improbable such a thing is. You can use
what is called a binomial probability calculator. I tried using this binomial probability calculator at StatTrek.com to compute the odds
of this. Below shows the inputs I used, and the output I got. The "number of trials" is the number of anomalous coin sightings I have logged, the number of successes is the number of nickels, and the probability is the probability (from the previous table) of getting a nickel (based on the 2016 mint production numbers).
What
the calculator tells us is that given a probability of 0.0968113282
of finding a nickel when a coin might be either a penny, a nickel, a
dime or a quarter, the chance of me getting only two or fewer nickels out of
205 random coins is less than 1 in a million. This is a very big hint
that the anomalous coins I have noted are not just a random set of
coins that accidentally fell to the ground. (I hadn't noticed how few of these coins were nickels until I had logged almost 200 observations of anomalous-seeming coin appearances.)
In
this regard (the fact that I get so many mysterious dimes and pennies
and so few nickels) my experience is consistent with the experience
of others who report finding mysterious coins. Such people seem to
report finding either dimes, pennies or both, with few reports of
nickels appearing. When I do a Google search for “finding
mysterious coins,” I find one page mentioning finding dimes and
pennies, and two pages mentioning finding dimes. Then there is the
“Finding Dimes” blog (www.findingdimes.org),
in which a blogger reports 90+ anomalous dimes. The blog has many
comments, largely from people finding anomalous dimes.
When
I do a Google search for “finding mysterious dimes” or “finding
mysterious pennies,” I get quite a few pages talking about finding
mysterious dimes or mysterious pennies, but no sites with titles such
as “Finding mysterious nickels.” When I do a Google search for
“finding mysterious nickels,” I get some pages pages talking
about finding mysterious dimes or mysterious pennies, but no sites
with titles such as “Finding mysterious nickels.”
For
me the most astonishing thing about this phenomenon is what I have
seen countless dozens of times: I will notice a coin in a spot that I just
walked past or very recently “coin-checked” without noticing any
coin in that spot. You would have such an experience if you walked
down a hall to your apartment door, put your key in your key slot, and
then noticed a coin a meter to the left of your door that you failed
to notice when walking right by such a spot a moment ago.

Mysterious Marks
The grid below shows four mysterious orbs I photographed indoors in the past few days, all of which have stripes.
I have photographed over 500 mysterious striped orbs, as you can see here. Although many got mysterious orbs in their photos long before 2015, to the best of my knowledge, no one ever reported getting a striped orb in a photograph until the first time that I reported that in July 2015 (in this post). I photographed many, many hundreds of mysterious orbs between September 2014 and June 2015, but did not get any striped orbs during that period (at least none that I noticed). Since July 2015, I have got these striped orbs in astounding numbers. The stripes only appear inside the orbs, never outside of them.

Orbs Seen During Alien Abductions?
While watching the Ancient Aliens TV show, I heard journalist Linda Moulton Howe say that she had interviewed a vast number of people who claimed to have experienced something like an "alien abduction." She said there were common characteristics, and one of them was seeing orbs of light.
I did a Google search on the topic, and found this interesting page detailing a careful study of people who claimed experiences like "alien abductions." We read the following, which uses ETs to mean extraterrestrials:
"88% of the abduction experiencers reported that they had witnessed paranormal activity in their homes, including light orbs that dart or float through the air. Sometimes the orbs pop like a bubble into 1-3 ETs. Many reported poltergeist activity such as household items flying through the air, pictures flying off walls, lights turning off and on, windows opening and closing, doors opening and closing and toilets flushing on their own."
I've photographed thousands of orbs, and I have also experienced many inexplicable events around the home, such as reported here. Could an alien abduction be in my future? All I can say is: it hasn't happened yet.
