When a Locked Door Opens Mysteriously
Readers of this blog who have read this series of posts know that it is not rare for me to report spooky events around my apartment. In the past few years, I have seen house lights turning on by themselves, a toilet 4 times flushing by itself, machines such as a TV and a sound machine often mysteriously changing their state or channel, a flashlight at the back of a tablet device often turning on by itself while the tablet was turned off, an electric toothbrush often turning on by itself, a phone repeatedly doing "phantom dialing" to my relatives, and numerous types of coin weirdness including a coin that rolled up on its edge from behind me while I was alone in my apartment.
What happened today was one of the spookiest things I have ever seen. At around 10:30 my daughter went out of our apartment for a few hours, locking the door behind her as she always does. I stayed in the apartment, the only one inside it. About 30 minutes later I heard a sound from the door, a sound which sounded just exactly as if the cylinder lock on the door had unlocked. About 20 seconds later, the door opened slightly (about as far as shown in the photo below). I went to the door to investigate. There was no one at the door or in the hall. When my daughter returned a few hours later, I asked her whether she had locked the door, and she said she had. The only two other people with the key (my wife and other daughter) were miles away, and we changed the lock nine years ago. Unlocking the door from the outside requires a key, and unlocking the door from the inside requires a turn of your wrist while you are grasping a brass knob.
So we have here a case of a locked door that unlocked and opened a few inches most mysteriously, apparently when no human was within a few meters of it. Having got used to such anomalies, they never alarm me.
Postscript: The events such as this that I have reported (in this series of posts) are nowhere near as dramatic as events described elsewhere in the literature of paranormal phenomena (see here, here, and here for some examples reported by world-class scientists). Below is an astonishing account in page 7 of the latest edition of Edge Science magazine published by the Society for Scientific Exploration:
In press reports from 2010, Lalm kindergarten in Gudbrandsdalen (meaning Gudbrand’s Valley), Norway, appeared to be a veritable haunted house. Between April 26 and June 15, all 15 employees witnessed diverse objects— cups, mugs, stones, jars, etc.—flying through the rooms! Sometimes these items seemed to appear out of thin air. In addition, doors opened and closed by themselves, figures were drawn with crayons moved by no one’s hand (no human’s hand that is...), feathers used for decoration organized themselves into specific patterns, and so on. More than 90 seemingly inexplicable episodes occurred. And, interestingly enough, many of these events were observed by two or three adults simultaneously. In some cases, there were even as many as 20 witnesses.
Notice the mention of doors opening and closing by themselves, which is something similar to what I reported above (before ever hearing about this Lalm kindergarten).

Their Weird Blue Circumferences

Her Superb Orb Photos
I've discovered a huge repository of impressive orb photos taken by Marion Atehsa Cyrus. The best way to see hundreds of her photos is to (1) log into Facebook; (2) use this link; (3) click on Photos, and scroll down; (4) click on one of the photos at the top, and then keep pressing the > button at the right of each photo to see more photos. I consider her collection one of the top five collections of orb photos anywhere on the Internet.

Among the things I notice in her collection are the following:
(1) Very many of what I call orb veils.
(2) Very many orbs with holes, which I also get abundantly.
(3) A very high number of orbs with what looks kind of like a nucleus (or a ringed nucleus) in their center. I don't get that effect very often.
(4) Quite a few orbs with colored stripes or dark stripes (I also get striped orbs abundantly).
(5) Some examples of speeding orbs.
(6) An incredible variety of orb colors.
Marion is the author of two books on orbs. Since Marion gets an extremely high degree of repetition of her distinctive "nucleus" pattern, which shows up in 50+ of her photos, her collection provides further dramatic evidence for the phenomenon of repeating patterns in mysterious orbs (also shown very strongly in this set of photos I have taken).

1000 Orb Holes Today, All on the Right

The photo is one I took when photographing nothing but ordinary drops of water falling against a dark background.
When I started to photograph falling water drops today, at first I got only featureless orbs. Beginning at 9:31 AM today, the orbs started to have holes, like we see above. I then took 100 straight photos showing orbs with these holes. There was a total of more than 1000 such orb holes that appeared in my photos, and every single one of them was on the right side of the orb. At 9:42 the orb holes stopped appearing.
Below from January 19, 2019 is a closeup photo of such an orb hole, showing how you can see right through such a hole.

The 41st Slash Stripe in a Mysterious Orb

This is the 41st time I have photographed a mysterious orb with a slash-like stripe stretching from the top right of the orb to the bottom left of the orb. This repeating pattern is one of 27 repeating patterns I have observed in mysterious orbs I have photographed. This is the 41st time I have photographed a mysterious orb with a slash-like stripe stretching from the top right of the orb to the bottom left of the orb. Phantom Dialing Redux
In a previous post I discussed a night in which my cell phone made four phone calls to family members (two to my wife and two to one of my daughters), all in the same hour, even though I never touched the phone to make these calls. When the calls were made, the phone was in my pocket.
Given that my cell phone is an old-style phone without any "speed dial" feature, it is very improbable to get even one such "phantom call" by chance on a phone like mine. In that post I did some math to calculate that the chance of such phone calls occurring in a single hour (without someone purposely touching the phone) was something like 1 in a quintillion, or about 1 in 1,000,000,000,000,000,000.
Today my phone was up to its "phantom dialing" tricks again. I got a phone call from one daughter asking if I had called her, and I found in the "Dialed Calls" log of my phone that the call occurred while the cell phone was in my pocket. Plus later tonight the same thing happened again, this time the phantom call going to my other daughter, again while the phone was in my pocket.
Given my phone's design, here are the fewest presses I can use to phone one of my daughters:
(1) First I must press the top of the right top End button to bring up the Contacts menu on my phone.
(2) Then I must press the little metal bar below the OK button twice (or 4 times) to get a row for one of my daughters.
(3) Then I must press the OK button again to bring up my daughter's phone.
(4) Then I must press the OK button again to make a call to my daughter.
(5) Then I must the press the End button to end the call.
But there are 21 different ways to press a button on the phone, so the chance of such a sequence of events occurring seems like only about 1 in 21 to the sixth power, or 1 in 85766121. The chance of two such events happening in the same day seems something like 1 in 100 trillion.

A Spooky Evening
This morning (a Sunday) I woke up around 3:00 AM, and went to use the bathroom. Alone in my apartment, I noticed a table lamp was on in a bedroom that is normally slept in but which was empty on this night. I'm quite sure that the light was off when I went to bed around 12:30 AM. No one other than me had been in the apartment since about 10:00 AM on Saturday, and I had taken a photo of the bedroom at 4:06 PM on Saturday showing the light in question was off.
It occurred to me that this was just the latest in a long series of spooky occurrences. This table lamp has turned on "by itself" one time before today, in 2018. Another lamp (plugged directly into the wall) turned on "by itself" years ago, while I was sitting about a meter away from it. Over the course of some 15 months, I have 18 times seen the flashlight on the back of my Samsung tablet turn on mysteriously while the tablet was turned off and recharging. I know of no way to get the flashlight on the tablet back to turn on while the tablet is turned off and recharging. Four times my toilet mysteriously flushed by itself, twice on October 31, 2016, and twice on October 21, 2017. The toilet is a type without any tank or flotation ball, a type in which "ghost flushing" (which can occur in toilets with tanks) should be impossible. I have seen many cases of a battery-powered toothbrush turning on by itself. My Samsung tablet has rebooted or turned off unexpectedly quite a few times, something I have seen in several other electronic devices around the house.
Then there have been 20+ anomalies involving a television set and a sound machine I have, such as the machines switching their channels or states mysteriously when no one touched them. For example, the other day I was simply holding a remote, without trying to use it, and I see 1-0-0-0 come up on my TV screen, with the TV switching to channel 1000.
At the end of February in my apartment there was something odd I had never seen before. I turned on a faucet to wash my hands, and while drying my hands on a nearby towel, the faucet seemed to turn off by itself. The faucets in my apartment are old-style faucets that have none of the automatic shut-off capability of high-tech faucets.
The idea that there may be some invisible realm of existence that mysteriously interacts with our own is discussed in my essay here. The strongest evidence for such a possibility are many events far more dramatic than any I have witnessed. You can read about some of those events in this series of 47 posts, or in Nandor's Encyclopedia of Psychic Science available here or in the Psi Enclyclopedia of the Society for Psychical Research available here. Many a scientist will exclude the possibility of some invisible force that may show itself in human homes, but scientists themselves nowadays are asking us to believe in several very mysterious spooky invisible influences such as dark matter, dark energy and quantum entanglement.
Below is a photo I took about 3:00 AM showing the table lamp turned on. The flowers were not touching the lamp. There were no pets or person except myself in the apartment, and the lamp was far away from the nearest window, which was only open about an inch.

He Saw Bright Orbs Move in Unison
There's an interesting news report this week about a man in Pennsylvania who saw bright orbs. He recalls the following:
“This extremely bright orb appeared. I thought it was a life flight helicopter. It didn’t move. Then two other orbs appeared, and they were in a perfect alignment with each other (straight up and down). They started to move as if they were attached to each other. Then another identical line of orbs, three in each line, a total of four lines evenly spaced.”
He also reported this:
"It was like they were all connected. The spacing between each orb and each line was evenly spaced. The middle orb would just disappear then in a blink of an eye they would be there.”
It is interesting that this witness reported the orbs moving towards Kecksburg, Pennsylvania -- the site of a famous UFO incident that occurred long ago.
