In its many incarnations of TV series and movies, Star Trek almost never gets spiritual. A rare exception was a scene I just saw in an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation. On an alien planet, space cadet Wesley Crusher sees an apparition of his dead father while looking at some flames. At this moment I took a photo of my TV set. Sure enough, a small bright orb appeared at the right.
