The "Floating Tops" Were "Crowned" (Part 1)

I took the photos below while photographing only ordinary drops of pure, clean water falling in front of a black featureless background.  We see orbs with a thick stripe near the top, one creating a kind of "floating top" appearance. At the top of such a "floating top" we ususally see a strange crown-like structure. This pattern persisted through most of more than 700 consecutive photos.
