Ghost or Wi-fi?

This morning I had the latest of more than 500 dreams I have had suggesting life after death.  The dream was of some person suggesting that electronic devices should be used to get evidence of ghosts.

I remembered I had an old milligauss reader that can read very low levels of magnetism. The device is sometimes sold as a "ghost detector." I turned on the device, and got a reading of 4 milligauss, which persisted whenever I used the device on the first floor, although the reading would sometimes very briefly drop back to 0.

But could this be caused by my wi-fi? A Google search on the topic ("Does Wifi produce milligauss?) tells us that a wi-fi router will produce only .5 milligauss at a distance of one meter from the router.

I tried taking the reading in my backyard, and the reading drops to 0 milligauss. Walking up to the second and third floors of the house I live in, I also got a reading of 0 milligauss, even though I often make use of wi-fi on the second floor, as does someone on the third floor. On a second try I verified that on both the 2nd and 3rd floors today you can use wi-fi, even though the reading on both floors was 0 milligauss.

I am left with the puzzling anomaly of why the first floor is producing a reading of 4 milligauss different from the 0 milligauss on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Wi-fi does not seem to be the answer. Turning on or turning off the wi-fi router on the 1st floor seemed to have no effect on the milligauss readings.

Last night I saw another example of what I have seen before at night. The very thick window curtains blocking the back window of my bedroom had mysteriously slightly parted a bit in their middle, causing a beam of light to fall to the left of my bed, one I do not normally see. No human had  parted the curtains in their middle, and the window behind the curtain was closed, with no fan running.

Postscript: In the week after writing this post, I took daily readings with the device shown above. The readings on the first floor showed a dropping from 4 milligauss to about 3 milligauss, with 3 milligauss being the reading on October 11, even when the wi-fi router was off on the first floor. In the next week the reading gradually declined to about 2 milligauss, and the reading on October 18 was 2 milligauss,  even when the wi-fi router was off on the first floor.

The reading of the device has stayed in the "red zone/" slightly above 2 milligauss, throughout October and November 2025.
