A Series of 5000+ Orb Holes Were All on the Orb Tops

I took the photos below while photographing only ordinary drops of pure, clean water falling in front of a black featureless background.  On this day, before things started to get more interesting, a series of 1300+ photos almost all showed multiple orbs with a single hole at the top.  Altogether more than 5000 orb holes appeared in this series, and every single one of them appeared at the top of an orb, without any in the center or bottom of an orb.  Here is one such photo.
