Below is a newspaper account you can read using the link here. The story dates from April 10, 1964. We read of something called a "ball-shaped cloud," even though it apparently had both a size too large and an altitude too high to be explained as a circular cloud. The reported size is 150 miles wide, and the reported altitude is 60,000 feet high. Asking Google for "highest altitude of circular clouds," I get this answer: "The highest altitude for circular clouds, often appearing lens-shaped or lenticular, is around 12,000 meters (40,000 feet)." Google also tells me that the highest width of circular clouds is about 50 miles. One of the pilots seeing the strange orb says he does not think it was naturally caused, and also calls it "a one-of-a-kind thing." Tests for radioactivity were negative.
