Strange Polygons of Energy?

The photo below was taken while photographing ordinary drops of pure, clean water falling against a dark featureless background.  We see two examples of the strange objects I call orb veils, which often are strange combinations of curves and spiky points.

Below is another orb veil I photographed on this day. This one is orange, with a right-angle on its left side.
