Like a Floating Alien Head

The photo below was taken in Grand Central Station in New York (right click to see the photo at its full resolution). There are some very strange details to be discovered in this photo.

Below is a closeup of the orb in the photo.

This orb looks very different from most of the orb faces I photograph, partially because the orb is not even circular, but kind of egg-shaped.
