Below we see the glorious front of the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, commonly called the Met. On this night there was something more baffling than the plots of those foreign-language operas they sing here: the appearance of two orbs above the building. Here was the first one:

Could these be the spirits of some late, great sopranos or tenors, returning wistfully to the scene of their previous triumphs?
The moon on this night was merely a thin crescent. There was no fog, mist, rain, or precipitation on this night. The air quality listed on airnow.gov was "good."
