Swift Orb in Grand Central Station

Photo date: December 22, 2014. Photographer: Mark Mahin.

In this photo taken in Grand Central Station, we see what photographers call "ghosting," which is what happens when you photograph an object moving much faster than the shutter speed. Since the effective shutter speed of the camera was about 1/1000 of a second, this photo indicates something moving very fast, much faster than an insect. See the "speeding air orb" label on this site for many similar photos.
