The "Faces" and the "Flames" (Part 1)

I took the photos below while photographing only ordinary drops of pure, clean water falling in front of a black featureless background.  On this day I got (in most of 500+ consecutive photos) the pattern below, looking rather like an alarmed face looking to the right. In a large fraction of these photos there was a flame-like object to the right of such orbs.
