The photo below shows a striped orb I photographed near the Chrysler Building in New York. This is the 124th mysterious striped orb I have photographed (see here for other examples). In many of these cases the stripe has looked like this one, with the stripe stretching from one side of the orb to the other.
There was no fog, mist, rain or precipitation on this night.
