Rings of Mystery

I took the photos below while photographing only ordinary drops of pure, clean water falling in front of a black featureless background.  On this day I started to get a huge number of orbs with big holes. Sometimes I can see effects like this gradually start to appear, over a length of time in which many photos are taken. But on this day my photos went abruptly from no holes in orbs to large holes in orbs.  Below are some examples.
