The photo below was taken while photographing ordinary drops of pure, clean water falling against a dark featureless background. We see a strange example of the hard-to-explain things I call orb veils. This one (which had a width of several inches) has a prominent outer "membrane" resembling the outer membrane of a cell, similar to what is shown in this series of photos.
