Photo date: June 12, 2015. Photographer: Mark Mahin.
The photo shows a huge purple orb (some 60% of the original photo height) that appears to be behind a memorial column erected to honor soldiers who died in the Civil War.
Every once in a while I find that a giant purple orb shows up in my photos taken at night. To read about previous nights when I experienced such a thing, see my posts labeled "giant purple air orb."
On this night a giant purple orb appeared more than 10 times in my photos (although whenever I took a photo of the ground, the photo showed no such thing). A photo like the one above is doubly "impossible" according to the theory that orbs are merely specks of dust near the camera. According to such a theory, orbs should be no larger than 10 percent of the photo size, and should not appear behind distant obstructions.
On the same night I took the photo below at a completely dark spot where there was no possibility of lens flare. This photo (pointing up at some gargoyles at the top of a building) also shows the purple orb behind a distant obstruction. We also see a bunch of other orbs floating to the right. The purple orb was about half the height of the original photo.
Below is another photo taken at the same place. The orb is clearly behind the distant obstruction, which was more than 4 meters from my camera. So the orb cannot be caused by lens flare, or dust or pollen near the camera. According to skeptics, a photo like the one below is impossible.
There was no fog, mist, rain, or precipitation on this night. The air quality listed on airnow.gov was "moderate." There was no tree or vegetation behind the statue shown an top, as you can see by using this link. There was also no tree or vegetation behind the area shown in the two photos above. The purple orbs shown in these photos do not appear in other photos I have taken from the same angles.
