Yesterday was supposed to be a rare day on which the moon looked bluish, but I found my photos of the moon to be disappointing. But the orb realm made up for the color shortfall, by giving me a nice orange orb. It is seen here in a photo taken in Manhattan.
There is no known explanation for why vivid-colored orbs should appear in the sky on a dry night. A few days ago I took about 40 photographs of falling raindrops during a rain shower. Of the roughly 500 orb-like natural particles I saw, every single one of them looked white -- none was a solid color such as orange, red, or blue.
There was no fog, mist, rain or precipitation on this night. The air quality listed on airnow.gov was "good," with an unusually low level of only 3 when I checked (anything below 50 is considered good). The pollen level listed on pollen.com was medium, with a level of 6.3.
