It is a futile to protest that an image like this doesn't show a face like in a photograph of a face. A reasonable hypothesis is that such images are being presented by some mysterious less-than-omnipotent power, to attract human attention. Such a power (which could be spiritual, angelic, "extra-dimensional" or extraterrestrial) might have the ability to present a face such as this, but lack the power to present a perfect-looking face like a face in a photograph.
