A Pair of Congruent Orb Veils, One with 7 "Eyes"

Photo date: September 29, 2015. Photographer: Mark Mahin.

The photo below was taken while photographing ordinary drops of pure, clean water falling against a dark featureless background.  We see two of the mysterious objects I call orb veils. You can see at the top that there are two of these objects with the same shape, one on top of the other.  What is particularly interesting here is the number of ring-like "eyes" we see here. I often see one or two of these ring-like "eyes" when photographing orb veils, but in this case we can see seven of these "eyes."

Below is a closeup of one of the bottom rings. We see four concentric rings. It has a kind of "pebble dropped in the pond" look.

See this composite photo to see 35 other examples of these strange orb veils.
