Photo date: December 4, 2014.
This is a type of air orb I have photographed many times. There
are three common characteristics observed over and over again:
(1) The orb is perfectly circular with an outer ring or "crust" about 5% of its width.
(2) The orb is bright white, with a slightly bumpy appearance,
looking a little like what a pizza maker might have on a pizza
pan just before he poured on the tomato sauce.
(3) The orb has a "split aura" around its outer perimeter, an
aura that is half purplish and half yellow-green or yellow-orange or yellow-brown.
Notice the donut-like spot in the middle. The existence of quite a few features on an orb such as this argues against the idea that such an orb is a mere speck of dust being photographed. When dust specks are photographed in a front of a camera, they are almost always featureless little blurs.
Dust level: 280/4, Fair. No reflective surfaces nearby. No orbs were seen in photos taken soon before and after this photo, which argues against the possibility of dust. No flying insects observed at photo site.
