An Orb Veil the Size of a Large Grapefruit

The photo below was taken while photographing ordinary drops of pure, clean water falling against a dark featureless background.  We see one of the mysterious objects I call orb veils (many examples of which can be seen in this composite photo). This one appeared with an apparent width of about 5 inches, and with a shape more circular-looking than the spiky shapes I typically see when I photograph these strange objects.

If you look closely, you can see two eye-like features of the type that I so often see when photographing these things.  The photo below (in which the orb veil appeared outside of the dark photo background) shows one of these "orb veil eyes" rather clearly (the photo is from October 2, 2015).
