The photo below was taken while photographing ordinary drops of pure, clean water falling against a dark featureless background. We see some half-orbs and disk-like orbs with some remarkable "vertical tails" that look rather like the exhaust of an ascending rocket. Right-click to see the photo at its full resolution.
In this blog I will use the label "orb vertical tail" to label this type of anomaly. This type of "tail" underneath an orb or half-orb is different from what I label as an "orb comet tail" -- a horizontal tail-like feature.
