Photo date: January 7, 2015. Photographer: Mark Mahin.
The photos were taken outside of Grand Central Station in New York City. Here is the first photo taken at 8:56 PM.
Could these orbs have been dust particles near the camera? I tried what I call the cardboard test, which involves putting a piece of cardboard (or a similar-looking piece of paper) at arm's length, and taking a photo. The photo (taken during the same minute as the photo above) showed no orbs.
I then at 8:57 PM (one minute later) took the photo below (taken at the same spot outside of Grand Central Station, but pointing in a different direction). This photo showed what I call a "sawed orb" in the top right corner (which looks like someone has sawed off a corner of a sphere).
Below is a closeup of the top corner of the photo. The orb on the right has the "split aura" so often seen in orbs, in which one half of the aura is one color, and the other half another color (click the photo to see what I mean).
I have several other times seen an orb with the same unusual shape shown on the far right, although I have no idea what the weird string-like thing near the middle is.
Another photo also taken at 8:57 PM also showed orbs at this spot.
I tried the cardboard test again during the same minute (8:57 PM), but it produced no orbs (suggesting that what I was seeing was not at all dust particles near the camera).
Another photo taken during the same minute also showed orbs:
The photos above were taken with my Sony camera that is not a full-spectrum camera. There was no fog, mist, rain or precipitation on this night. The air quality listed on airnow.gov was "good" with a rating of 29 (anything below 50 is considered good).
By now I have tried this cardboard test many times in the middle of getting orbs in my photos. In not one single case did I ever see even one orb in front of the cardboard or paper, which strongly refutes the idea that such orbs are produced by particles near the camera.
Stay tuned for some full-spectrum camera photos of this orb surge, photos that will show a lot more orbs than the photos above.
