The photo below was taken while photographing ordinary drops of pure, clean water falling against a dark featureless background. We see one of the strange spiky objects I call orb veils, which usually appear in a whitish color, although 23 times I have photographed orange orb veils, as shown here. Very rarely an orb veil will appear in a blue color, as shown here. This one had an apparent size of about 5 inches.
On the same day I photographed the orb veil below, which shows the more typical color of these objects. This one was about 4 inches in width.
