An Astonishing Twilight

The photo below shows a street in New York City.  In the top left we see a mysterious orange-yellow orb floating about. The orb has a quite unusual appearance in which spots of orange seemed to be mixed with spots of yellow.  The object was not the moon, which was merely a thin crescent on this night.

There was no rain, fog, mist or precipitation on this night. The air quality listed on airnow.gov was "good," with a rating of 29 (anything below 50 is considered good).
