Big, Bright, and Not the Moon

The photo below shows a photogenic tower in midtown Manhattan. To the left we see a large orb that took up 8 percent of the original photo height. This object could not have been the moon, which was only a half-moon on this night (and was not visible nearby when this shot was taken).

There was no fog, mist, rain or precipitation on this night.
